In 1963 Buick introduced a sumptuous car whose name conjured up images of
the European sun resort of the very rich. Originally penned as a LaSalle for
Cadillac, the Riviera combined the flash of a Ferrari with the luxury and
comfort of a Rolls-Royce, and offered pretty stiff competition to the other
American luxury cars of its day.
